A nice THANK YOU TVTU was sent our way from Liz Saunders/World Salmon Council. You may remember the Board elected to donate the Chapter's portion of funds donated/generated at the 2014 Pacific Northwest Fly Tyers Rendezvous to World Salmon Council. We extend those THANKS to everyone who attended or supported TVTU supporting the Fly Fishing Arts and Conservation Society!

    Dear Erle, Mike and Andy,

I am sending a separate thank you by snail mail to Erle at the Fly Fishing Arts and Conservation Society address. However, I also wanted to drop a note to you three (and all of our friends at Trout Unlimited Tualatin Valley Chapter) for your role in securing the $700 donation from the Fly Fishing Arts and Conservation Society to World Salmon Council for our Salmon Watch program. We are most grateful for your support. I know that the teacher at Twality Middle School will also be most appreciative of your sponsoring their participation in Salmon Watch this year. It is a great boost to our educational efforts.

I would like to invite you and other members of your chapter to participate in Salmon Watch this year. I hope we can arrange for you or one or more of your Trout Unlimited Tualatin Valley Chapter colleagues to accompany a Twality Middle School field trip this fall to see your investment paying dividends in the hearts and minds of young children. We'd love to have you!

Thank you again so much for your involvement and support.

    Best fishes,

    Lizanne Saunders
    Executive Director
    World Salmon Council

First invasives of 2014....

That didn't take long!

After just recently announcing that watercraft inspections for invasive species were open for the season - we have our first quagga capture. Thanks to ODFW and also the Malheur County sheriff department for helping out!

One for the WTH files....

Circulated/recirculated from Moldy Chum - a story taken from the Outdoor Life magazine  blog. Not a big fan of fanning the flames on stories but this makes one simply wonder:

What are people thinking?

Poacher in NM - exceeds rainbow trout take by 1600!!

Photo: New Mexico Department of Game and Fish
Sure they may be stocked but does even THAT make a difference?

Invasive Species - Check Stations

ODFW reports watercraft check stations are open for business. Don't forget your permits as well!

Oregon TU supported this program from inception and continues to support it for protection of our Oregon waterways. The program has been successful in finding and decontaminating numerous vessels over the time it has been implemented - based on reports from other states the frequency of contamination will only increase.....

Oregon Council Meeting - May 31, Bend, OR

In a note from the newly appointed [or make that "volunteered" - thanks Terry!] Oregon Council Chair - Terry Turner puts out a reminder that the next State Council meeting is coming in May. Put it on your calendars as all members are invited. Terry reminds us that not everyone votes directly at the meetings but you can vote through your Chapter Representatives.

Plan on attending if you want to be more involved and see how the Oregon TU network functions - we can use a strong contingent of interested folks protecting Oregon! Contact us for more info

Hi all,

Just getting this date
[May 31] confirmed and on everyone's calendar. The agenda will be forthcoming in a few days.
Meeting will be a busy one - scheduled from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.

We've "reserved" the building lobby near Darek's office
[I googled Darek Staab and found the office to be at: 50 SW Bond Street, Bend] that can be configured as a meeting space.

Please extend the invitation to your chapters. Each chapter can have 2 representatives at the council meetings as voting members but more can attend just to watch the fun.

Hope to see you all there.

Terry
