Well Fall has arrived - just not quite the rains and cool temps we were expecting - but the trees are definitely thinking about turning colors and so are our anadromous denizens of the state! Last month we heard a bit about searun cutthroats; they should be coming into the rivers hard with some rain - right now most seem to be loitering enthusiastically in the estuaries and tidewaters or holding in deep pools.
Here's a few things you can do to kick off Fall.....
OUTING & CONSERVATION!
WHERE: Metolius River [Central Oregon]; Camp Sherman Campground
WHEN: October 2-4, 2015
WHAT to EXPECT: This is a special event - once again the local Chapters of TU will join on the Metolius River to help with the long standing State Project; enjoy a day of restoration effort, campfire time and be rewarded with a day of Fishing!
Contact: Dick Hollenbeck of Clackamas River Chapter for the latest!
NEW ADDITION - FUN!
WHEN: October 3, 2015 - 10:00 a.m.
WHAT to EXPECT: Our friend Joel of Royal Treatment Fly Fishing fame is hosting a
“Town Hall Meeting” with newly appointed ODFW Commissioners Bruce
Buckmaster and Jason Atkinson. This is your opportunity to help shape
the future by sharing your vision of our fish and wildlife management
with these gentlemen. I hope you will attend and contribute to this
discussion, thus helping change this little piece of the world that is
so important to all of us.
If you can be there and have a commentator subject for Mr Buckmaster and Mr Atkinson, Joel asks that you leave a comment on his site - it gives them a chance to be prepared for a good discussion....

GENERAL MEETING!
WHEN: Wednesday, October 14, 2015
WHERE: Lucky Lab Public House [Multnomah]\
WHAT TIME: 6:30 p.m. Socializing; meeting starts at 7:00 p.m.
WHAT to EXPECT: John Pomplin-"Self-guided Alaska Fly Fishing Adventure"
John will provide his insights into Alaska fishing for silver salmon and the cheap way to get there.
The trip John describes is in Cordova but any of the South Central Alaska towns have similar accommodations. The trick is taking advantage of cheap airfare on Alaska Airlines with their mileage plan, tying your own flies, and being open minded on other ways to fish for Silvers if Mother Nature throws you a curve
