July at TVTU?

July has arrived! Along with the official summer start [but who can tell the difference, right?] With all this talk about warm weather, no snowpack and unseasonably dry weather - do not forget to give our fishy friends their warm water due - handle gently and keep 'em wet!

What is TVTU doing in July? Please come see! Here's the monthly list of TVTU activities..........

OUTING!
WHEN: July 15, 2015
WHERE: Laurance Lake - Hood River County
WHAT TIME: mid-Morning - Kinnikinnick Day Use Area
WHAT to EXPECT: Laurance Lake sits on the N foot of Mt Hood out of Parkdale, Oregon. The lake is known for it's winds so be prepared - they may or may not blow! Best fishing is early and late for dries - be sure to check for a foam/debris line developing off the far shore when a breeze hits; often times fish key on  these for downed insects. Expects rainbows - both stocked and not, cutthroat and there are occasional bull trout. If you want something to take home - it needs to to be fin-clipped. I've never caught one but smallmouth bass are present [and you can keep as many as you want to get rid of them - ODFW says so!]. Laurance has some stunning views of Mt Hood as well. Fire pits are available at the day use for lunches or evening meals before getting back out for the last hours - do watch for fire regulations. There is a parking fee.
WHAT to BRING: This is a day trip only - so bring yourself, a buddy, some lunch - oh! and your fishing gear including float tube, pontoon boat or electric motored craft [no fueled motors] as the lake is best fished from a craft.
