Tree placement_Success!

Special thanks to Sean Cook, Tom Stringfield, Mike Dahlstrom, Ken Kawaiwaiaea, Jeff Price, and Kim Swartz for helping out this past Sunday, June 5th placing trees at the Chicken Creek restoration project on the grounds of the Tualatin River National Wildlife Refuge. Special thanks also to Mike Gentry for leading the effort and getting us all in place to be able to partake in this project! Also, special thanks to Carly Hirschmann the habitat specialist with FWS who wrangled us all into place.

We were able to successfully place about....

....60 trees in the ever burgeoning creek - and it was looking rather healthy. As a reminder, these particular trees came from our partners at Cornell Farms! A hearty thanks to their group for trucking out those excess trees and getting them staged this past January for easy placement.

The weather turned off nice for the short time we were there and thought the chest deep grasses were wet, everyone was prepared and there were smiles all around.

Thanks to Mike Dahlstrom for taking some photos and getting them to us for use!

You might recall we started working with the refuge back in 2020 as they implemented the long planned recoursing of Chicken Creek from the drainage ditch it had been for years during ag production in the area. As a reminder - and for reference how far it has come, here are a few earlier photos as the dirtwork was completed and planting began:

Quite the alteration from years prior to this year! Look for more opportunities in the near future - we have Christmas trees staged on the Clackamas River ready for flows to begin dropping...stay tuned!
