Hosmer stocking - Public Comments
Latest in the world of Let Yourself Be Heard! <CLICK>
If you fish Hosmer Lake in Central Oregon - ODFW is looking at making some changes. They want to know your feelings! What I don't see is anything that will change the "Kayak Hatch". All's fair afterall it is a popular area near a populace town - enjoy one and all [the fish really don't seem to care]!

Public Comments - FISH PASSAGE & DAM CHANGES
Official request for public comments with contacts regarding fish passage waivers and dam enhancements from ODFW - the second part of a previous note. Looks like a pair of Baker County and Malheur dams are up for enhancements via added hydroelectic units - Warmsprings Dam/Malheur River near Juntura and the Mason Dam/Powder River. Since the dams are existing - these waivers are using a mitigation process to implement other improvements.....Bull trout and Redbands are affected.
December 9 is the public comment period deadline and January 10 is the meeting.

SB 830: Gillnet Fleet Changeover Funding
Implemented this past session the structure of SB 830 to enhance a more selective, non-native fishery transition for non-tribal gillnetters affected by Columbia River management plan is becoming clear - or is being more clearly outlined by the folks at ODFW. If you fish - any means - along the Columbia and it's tribs check out the news article and see how it affects you in the upcoming seasons [at least through current expiration of 2021!]

Public Comment - Fish Passage
It can be difficult to get involved sometimes - other times people look for input. Here are a couple of items from ODFW that they are looking for comment on regarding fish passage on some small dam projects. It is hard to provide educated comment on such projects without a lot of information but history probably tells us more about blockages than anything else we have.

Trout Unlimited and Ecola Creek habitat restoration efforts
By Alan Moore
Here is a pretty cool illustration of yet another way Trout Unlimited, working with a broad and diverse array of public and private partners can combine efforts to get stuff done:
TU’s native fish habitat assessment for Ecola Creek on the North Oregon Coast, completed last year at the request of the City of Cannon Beach for management planning of their Ecola Creek Forest Reserve recommended large wood projects on the lower mainstem and select tributaries.
Then, a couple of weeks ago the local partners made it happen (click link to see the article from The Daily Astorian):

In case you missed it.....
In October members showed up at the Lucky Lab Public House in Multnomah Village [the monthly meeting place for TVTU - second Wednesday each month - second floor - 6:30 p.m. in case you care to sit in with us!] to hear Tom Wolf - our man of Salem talk about the 2013 legislature and upcoming 2014 issues.
Tom started by noting it was a very good year for TU concerns in Oregon - BOTH of the major "priority" bills saw action and PASSED in one form or another.

Wednesday, November 13 - 6:30 p.m.
at the Lucky Lab in Multnomah Village is where TVTU will be to hear Henry Hoffman
speak! If you tie flies - or fish with flies you most likely have therefore met Hank Hoffman - he's the modern era developer of fine hackles for the fly tying industry. Hank pioneered genetic breeding of prime roosters from right here in
Oregon! Come hear the story and share in the lore!
ALSO NOTE: this meeting is the TVTU Annual Meeting and will incorporate a short State of Chapter address as well as board/director nominations and elections!

native cutthroat. On location the team replaced invasive interloping plants with
new native plantings.
