What'd I miss - February Edition

February TVTU Meeting
Hooo boy! You did miss out indeed - the annual February mixed meeting really came together this year! Our shared meeting with Stonefly Maidens always is a crowd gatherer and this year was no exception - over 75 persons attended! Hard to beat a showing like that.....and truth is though we formally invite the Maidens and share the February meeting, the invitation is really a standing one. It would be spectacular to have the ladies participate every month [which several actually do as we know many are members of BOTH clubs!].
A lucky winner - THANKS Stonefly Maidens!
We also debuted the new TVTU portable PA system - what an addition; the discussion has been on going for years but the action occurred just recently. There are some line of site issues with transmission we noticed and some other peculiarities but rest assured when Jeff Morgan presents next month - we'll know a lot more to better use this nice set up! The better for everyone to hear!

So the crowd settled in with some nice malted beverages and food from our friends at the Lucky Lab......

What'd I miss - January?

Under fair skies [for an Oregon January evening] approximately 32 folks came out to the Lucky Lab for the January General TVTU meeting! What a pleasure to introduce several new members, a guest and a visitor for our kick-off 2015 meeting!

Member Robert Williams – another of our intrepid C4C repeat volunteers – reported several Clackamas River steelhead to hand! Way to go Robert. No pictures so we have to rely on his word! Not a far stretch for Robert though knowing he brought a 28” Davis Lake ‘bow to hand on the weekend of the 2014 Chewaucan Trip. Next time you see Robert – ask him about his expertise!

Andy Andrews reminded the crowd that April 18th is the first trip of the 2015 OUTINGS SCHEDULE. A day trip to Lost Lake [the one that was lost in Clatsop County…]. It’s only a day trip and hopefully you’ll have some time to come warm up your arm and test that float tube for leaks…….

What'd I Miss - December Edition

The December meeting was a nice way to round out the year for TVTU – a fairly decent number of members were able to take a break from the pre-holiday bustle and come enjoy a beverage with Marc Williamson while he spoke about his experiences on the Crooked River.
Before Marc took center stage to address the 29 attendees Erle – esteemed chapter President – made a few announcements to our group [which included 5 new members and 2 visitors]:
  • Oregon Council recently sent out a mailer to all Oregon TU members in an effort to increase visibility of TU efforts throughout the state

What'd I miss...September Edition

Back in our routine after the summer focus shift – a fine PICNIC for July and the August break – about 25 TVTU folks converged on our monthly meeting spot at the Lucky Lab Public House in Multnomah Village. Our President, Erle, put a few folks on the spot to introduce themselves – (2) new attendees and a visitor from the Clackamas River Chapter [welcome, of course, we appreciate your willingness to play!]. By the way – visitors are welcome any time in case that wasn’t obvious – no secret handshakes required to attend this group!

Michael Ellis – our esteemed Coordinator of all things Conservation – reported that he and Jon Pampush snuck away to the Deschutes last month; though not timely for current conditions, Michael relayed that the river fished well.....

What'd I Miss...June Edition

So summer anticipation had you at the bench tying something for that upcoming trip? Don’t blame you – but at least 20 folks made it to the June meeting to hear Doug Ray speak about the projects on the TVTU adopted home waters – the Necanicum. Michael orchestrated a nice accompanying slide show with photos – VERY interesting to see the growth of a project like that at Circle Creek.

Before Doug could wax poetic about habitat however, Erle kicked things off….

January Meeting - What'd you miss?

With the rivers finally on the rise due to the recent rains, our January meeting found around 28 members at the Lucky Lab Public House. Though the room was far from capacity – Erle gladly welcomed 4 new attendees [we appreciate seeing the new faces] and several returning faces! We’re glad everyone could make it and hope you found it worth returning!

I missed it....DID YOU???

December meeting recap:
Unfortunately, I was unable to attend the member meeting this month....I was definitely looking forward to seeing our good friend and All-Knowing Necanicum guy Doug Ray again. He originally planned to bring Melissa Reich our friend from the North Coast Land Conservancy - and Power Point presentation guru - to the meeting to review and discuss the Tualatin Valley Chapter's efforts - past and future - on the north coast!.....

Mia will present a science based discussion developed with ODFW and the US Forest Service that outlines Climate Change and the direct effects anticipated to the State of Oregon. And just as an aside - Mia runs Little Creek Outfitters with her husband Marty so she would probably be more than pleased to visit beforehand about what is happening on Oregon waterways today!
Hope to see YOU at The Lab at 6:30!

July Picnic/Fundraiser - COOK PARK!

Hey Members! Hopefully you are at Timothy Lake this weekend.....but if you are not...or if you are just seeing this post....please note our July Member Meeting is the annual TVTU picnic at Cook Park! So to avoid being a lone show at the Lucky Lab come to the Tigard Park with our friends from Stonefly Maidens and Clackamas River Chapter for an evening of socializing. The meeting will include a small silent auction fundraiser [if you have something to donate for the auction LET US KNOW! ] and a casting course to test your skills [bring your favorite stick or bum one to test your skills - or try for a finned resident of the creek!]. It is a potluck affair as well - TVTU provides the entre - YOU get to bring your favorite side or dessert dish [and trust me - nobody attending is so finicky as as to turn down favorites so do not be afraid!].
Look for us down by the river under the covered picnic shelter no. 3 [park map].

Hope to see you at Cook Park in July!
