OUTINGS - there are TWO this month!
WHEN: July 10 - 15, 2014
WHERE: Chewaucan River - Southern Oregon
WHAT TIME: late afternoon - Marster Springs Campground [south of Paisley].
WHAT to EXPECT:
The Chewaucan is one of the largest and best fishing rivers in the Fremont-Winema National Forest. South of Paisley, the river is artificial lures and flies only; temps will be high but the river cool. There are also some lakes high above that could be reached by car - floating device in hand. A Saturday night barbecue will be had - with the meat/entree supplied by TU.
WHAT to BRING: Those attending are asked to bring something to share with the group during the barbecue (dessert, salad, chips and dip, bottle of wine) - your fishing/wading gear though wet wading may be on order. Bug spray. Float tube or pontoon if you adventure highter into the mountains [Campbell and Deadhorse Lakes?]. Also it's a campout so drag down your tent/truck cab and other necessary living & cooking gear.

BARNEY RESERVOIR OUTING - POSTPONED
[Fire Danger Closes Weyerhaeuser Access Roads]
WHEN: postponed - at least until fire season is over.
WHERE: Barney Reservoir - near Yamhill, Oregon
WHAT TIME: TBD
WHAT to EXPECT: Day trip to this catch & release fishery in the middle of logging country [watch for trucks even though we are on a Sunday trip!]. Little fishing pressure has this producing lots of various sized fish - no telling what you'll end up with.
WHAT to BRING: Floating devices are needed - but boats may be problematic due to a limited/primitive ramp. Also check the link for directions - it is a tough one to find if you don't know the roads but doable.

BARK Tours....

Tom Wolf passes this info on for areas on Mt Hood that may be of interest for activities and restorations on the mountain; information on BARK Tours and the organization sent by Russ Plaeger/Program Director [<What is BARK?>]:

With more 3100 miles of roads, thousands of culverts, and hundreds of bridges the Forest Service road system in the Mt. Hood National Forest represents a huge public investment, liability, and an opportunity. Many of the roads were built in the heyday of logging and, like ‘empty nesters’ in a large house, the Forest Service is faced with the question, “Do we still need and can we afford all of these roads?” Bark is offering tours on Saturday, June 21 and 28 and Wednesday, June 25 to provide you with an opportunity to learn more about this issue; see below for tour details.
